Mission Statement
Bee Health Collective is a 501©3 non-profit that was created to share current, credible information about honey bee health. We are affiliated with 501©5 Project Apis m., our sister organization that is dedicated to driving science to deliver innovation for healthy bees and bee businesses. We are both dedicated to honey bee health research, education, and support beekeepers and the beekeeping industry. Bee Health Collective is the avenue by which Project Apis m. relays research results through accessible educational resources.
In partnership with Project Apis m., we fund research that is informed by the needs of beekeepers to develop practical tools, solutions, and educational materials to support honey bee health and pollination security. We invest in the future of honey bee health by funding scholarships for the next generation of honey bee researchers. We partner with key stakeholders to implement forage programs and translate research into practical, real-world solutions.
Vision Statement
It is our shared vision to translate scientific research into practical, applied, real-world solutions and educational materials.
RESEARCH: Investing in practical research for impact today and into the future
RESOURCES: Resources to support beekeepers, the public, and honey bees
SOLUTIONS: Pollination security for sustainable crop production
History
In 2020, the Bee Health Collective website was launched by Project Apis m. and the National Honey Board as an effort to gather and share content and credible information about honey bee health, scientific research, the beekeeping industry, and how these relate to agriculture, resource management and the food supply. In order to amplify this mission, the Bee Health Collective was established as a 501©3 tax-exempt non-profit organization in 2024. The Bee Health Collective is now a sister organization to Project Apis m., governed by the same board and maintained by Project Apis m. staff. This new status allows our network of individual and private foundation donors, who are interested in supporting honey bee health research, the tax reporting benefits they require. The Bee Health Collective uses donated funds to fund research through the same process that Project Apis m. funds research. Its research proposals are evaluated and reviewed by the same boards of scientific advisors and directors.
